Warm Up Guides

Pre-pool warm up should be completed on poolside before any competition warm up in the pool and before each race. A warm body is a faster body and less prone to injury.

Competition day

Arrive at the venue plenty of time (minimum  of 30 minutes before in pool warm up is scheduled) this give plenty to sort things out , change and do 15 minutes pre-pool.

Warm up in the pool starts with front and back regardless of what is being raced. Once your body is warmed up you then tailor it to the events you are competing in for that session. Warm up does not have to be all full stokes, it can include drills. Each pool differs in design and how you turn may vary so it is essential you practice the turns you will be doing in the event.  The last 5 minutes of each warm up is usually allocated for starts.

Between warm up and races it is essential to keep warm. This includes wearing warm clothing, doing blood flow/pre pool before each races (remember you should be hot going into the pool!)
